Worked example
11 cube nets and a 4 cm example
Each of the six squares has a 4 cm side. The surface area is 6 × 4² = 96 cm² and the volume is 4³ = 64 cm³. The layouts below are the 11 distinct cube nets, counting rotations and reflections as the same net.
Six equal squares meet to form a cube. Three faces meet at each vertex.
The face opposite a chosen square depends on the net layout. Use the face buttons and Fold to check it.
How to print and assemble
- Choose a layout and print at 100% / Actual size. Measure the 50 mm check line.
- Cut the outside solid lines, keeping the glue tabs. Score the dashed lines with a ruler.
- Fold the four side faces around the base, glue tabs inside, then close the last face.
The geometry
Cube dimensions
Every face is a square with side s. Surface area = 6s² and volume = s³. The printed side length stays exact when Shape scale is 100%.
Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
How many nets does a cube have?+
A cube has 11 distinct nets when rotations and mirror images are treated as the same layout. This generator includes all 11.
Can I print the cube at an exact size?+
Yes. Keep Actual size selected, download the PDF and print at 100% with Fit to page turned off.
What do the line styles mean?+
Solid navy lines are cut lines. Dashed orange lines are folds, and pale orange shapes are glue tabs.
Which paper works best?+
Ordinary paper is fine for lessons. For a model that keeps its shape, use 160–220 gsm card stock.
