The numbered dice net shown here makes a 4 cm die from six 4 × 4 cm squares. When folded, 1 is opposite 6, 2 is opposite 5, and 3 is opposite 4. Each opposite pair adds up to 7.

To print this example, set the side length to 4 cm, select A4 paper, then open Advanced settings and choose Numbers under Dice faces. Choose Dots for pips or Blank for your own classroom prompts.

A paper die is useful for lessons, but its glue seams and low weight mean it is not a precision randomizer.

How to print and assemble

  1. Choose the face style and side length. Check that the template fits your chosen paper.
  2. Print at 100%, cut the outside lines and score the dashed folds.
  3. Glue the tabs inside the die and let every seam dry before rolling.

The geometry

Correct dice face order

Standard dice use opposite pairs 1–6, 2–5 and 3–4. The generator preserves those pairs and keeps every pip pattern facing outward.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Do opposite dice faces add up to seven?+

Yes. The generated die always pairs 1 with 6, 2 with 5, and 3 with 4.

What size works best for a classroom die?+

Around 4 to 6 cm per side is easy to hold and still prints at actual size on A4 or Letter. Beyond that the net needs Landscape orientation, or Fit to page if exact measurements do not matter.

Will a paper die roll fairly?+

Close, but not perfectly. A hollow paper die is light, and the glue tabs add a little weight to some faces. Use 160–220 gsm card and let every seam dry fully before rolling.
